Why your website gets traffic but no enquiries

Traffic is not the problem. Eight conversion failures we find on almost every Pakistani business website.

A client came to us with 4,000 monthly visitors and four enquiries. The instinct is to buy more traffic. That is usually the most expensive possible answer.

If people are arriving and leaving, the problem is on the page. These are the eight causes we find most often.

1. The phone number is not tappable

On mobile — which is most of your traffic in Pakistan — the number must be a `tel:` link that dials on tap. Typing a number into the dialler is enough friction to lose a person who was only mildly interested.

Same for WhatsApp. A visible WhatsApp button with a pre-filled message removes the hardest part of making contact: working out what to say.

2. Nothing tells the visitor what you actually do

Homepages open with "Welcome to our website. We are a leading provider of innovative solutions." A visitor has to read three paragraphs to learn you install air conditioners.

Say what you do, for whom, and where, in the first sentence a person sees.

3. No reason to trust you

Pakistani buyers are cautious online, with good reason. A page with no reviews, no real photographs, no client names and no address reads as risky.

Put social proof high on the page: reviews with real names, photos of actual completed work, client logos, and a physical address. Stock photography of foreign office workers actively reduces trust.

4. The form asks for too much

Every extra field costs you submissions. Name, phone and a message is usually enough. You can ask the rest on the call.

5. The site is slow

If your page takes six seconds on a mid-range Android over 4G, half your visitors leave before seeing anything. Compress images, serve WebP, defer non-critical scripts. Speed is a conversion feature before it is an SEO feature.

6. No price guidance at all

"Contact us for pricing" makes people assume it is expensive and leave. A range, a starting price, or even "most projects fall between X and Y" filters out people who were never going to buy and reassures the ones who will.

7. The call to action never changes

One button at the very bottom is not enough. Someone convinced halfway down the page should not have to scroll to the end. Repeat the call to action after every major section.

8. You are attracting the wrong traffic

Sometimes the traffic genuinely is the problem — but not the amount of it. If you rank for informational searches while selling a service, you will get readers rather than buyers.

Check which pages bring the traffic in Search Console. If your visitors are all landing on a blog post about how something works, the fix is pages targeting commercial intent, not more of the same.

How to work out which one is yours

Install a heatmap tool and watch ten session recordings. It takes twenty minutes and is more useful than any amount of speculation. You will see exactly where people stop, what they try to tap, and where they leave.

Then fix one thing at a time and measure. Changing eight things at once teaches you nothing about which one worked.

Questions people ask

What is a good conversion rate for a service website?

For local service businesses in Pakistan, two to five percent of visitors making contact is reasonable. Below one percent usually means a page problem rather than a traffic problem.

Should I add a live chat widget?

A WhatsApp button generally outperforms live chat in Pakistan, because people already live in WhatsApp and expect a reply there.
