Most online stores in Pakistan get their traffic from Instagram and Facebook ads. The moment ad costs rise, sales fall off a cliff, because there is nothing underneath.
Organic search is the floor that stops that happening. Here is the work, roughly in order of return.
Category pages matter more than product pages
People search "wireless earbuds price in Pakistan" far more than they search a specific model number. Category and collection pages capture that demand, and most Pakistani stores leave them completely bare.
Every category page needs a proper H1, 150 to 300 words of genuinely useful text (buying guidance, not keyword filler), internal links to the important products, and a title tag that includes the phrase people actually type — which usually includes "in Pakistan" or "price in Pakistan".
Stop using the manufacturer's description
If your product description is copied from the supplier, it is identical to forty other stores and Google has no reason to prefer you. Rewrite the top fifty products by revenue in your own words. Include the details buyers in Pakistan actually ask about: warranty, delivery time, whether cash on delivery is available, and whether it is an original or a replica.
Add product structured data
Product schema with price, availability and review rating lets Google show stars and prices directly in the results. It measurably improves click-through, it is entirely within your control, and most competitors have not done it.
Fix the technical problems that quietly bleed traffic
- Faceted navigation creating thousands of near-duplicate filtered URLs. Canonicalise or block them.
- Out-of-stock products returning 404s and losing whatever ranking they had. Keep the page live and show alternatives.
- Slow mobile pages. Most Pakistani shoppers are on mid-range Android phones on 4G. Compress every image, use WebP, and lazy-load anything below the fold.
- No HTTPS, which still turns up on Pakistani stores and destroys both trust and rankings.
- Thin or missing pages for shipping, returns and contact. These affect trust signals and conversion, and they are trivial to write.
Build content around buying questions
The highest-converting organic traffic to an e-commerce store comes from comparison and buying-guide searches: "best air fryer in Pakistan under 20000", "original vs replica perfume how to tell". These readers are close to a purchase and are currently landing on someone else's blog.
One well-researched guide a month, each linking to your relevant category pages, compounds quietly and keeps working long after you stop paying for it.
Reviews on product pages
On-site reviews add unique text to every product page, feed rich-result stars through schema, and lift conversion rate. Send a review request three days after delivery. Publish the mediocre ones too — a page of nothing but five stars reads as fake to Pakistani shoppers, who are, reasonably, sceptical.
What to expect
E-commerce SEO is slow and then suddenly not. Expect little in month one and two while technical work and content go in, early movement on long-tail product and comparison terms around month three, and meaningful category-level rankings from month five or six.
The return is a channel with no cost per click, which is worth a great deal the first time your ad account has a bad quarter.
Questions people ask
Does SEO work for a store selling only on Instagram?
Not directly — SEO needs a website with indexable pages. If all your sales run through Instagram DMs, a simple store with proper category pages is the prerequisite.
Should I write content or fix technical issues first?
Technical first. Publishing good content on a site Google cannot crawl properly is wasted effort.
